Erasmus + Traineeship

Erasmus traineeship is a new  EU programme within the Erasmus + scheme
It enables students at higher education institutions to do a work placement (traineeship/internship) in an enterprise or organisation in another participating country.
The main aim of the programme is to help students to adapt to the requirements of the Community-wide labour market, and to improve understanding of the economic and social culture of the host country while acquiring work experience.

DURATION

The training period lasts between 2 and 12 months. The training period has to end by 30th September.

DEFINITION OF ENTERPRISE/HOST ORGANISATION

Host organisations for student placements can be any public or private organization active in the market labour or sectors like instruction/education/youth. For instance they could be: public or private enterprises; a public body at local, regional or national level; a representancy like a chamber of commerce or unions; training centres; research centres; schools or other educational centres; a charity or Non Governmental Organization; a higher education institution adhering to the Erasmus+ Program holding a ECHE (Erasmus Charter for Higher Education).
The selected organization must be active in any of the countries participating in the programme.
The following organisations are not eligible:

  • European Union institutions and other EU bodies including special agencies
  • Organisations that manage EU programmes like the National Agencies (this is to avoid possible conflict of interests and / or double funding)
DEFINITION OF A FOREIGN COUNTRY

The eligible countries for the Erasmus Placement programme are:

  • The 28 EU member States
  • The EEA member States (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway)
  • Croatia and Macedonia (since 2010)

FUNDING

The students selected for the programme will benefit from a contribution of  430-480 € per month (normally grants are for maximum 4 months) from the European Community. This scholarship is not affected by any additional benefits that the host organization intends to provide the trainee with (a small salary, coverage of travelling or accommodation expenses, canteen service, …).
