All non-EU students need to apply for a Permit of Stay (permesso di soggiorno) within 8 days after their arrival in Italy.

1. Students should go to the Foreign Student’s office (SPORTELLO STRANIERI UNIPV - Tuesday from 9.30 to 12.00 in Via Sant’Agostino 1 and Wednesday from 14.00 to 16.00 in Via Ferrata) and bring the following documents:

The postal fees and the sending will cost about 140 euros.
You will receive a receipt with the indication on the date where you will have to report to the Questura (Police Station) in Pavia for the subsequent steps.
The Italian post offices offer a new service on the website called “Portale Immigrazione”, that allows you to check the status of your Permit of Stay application. Opening a EU bank account is mandatory for students who receive a UNIPV scholarship

Many banks have special student account offers with very low service fees. Note that usually you are given a simple debit card with no overdraft option.
Another option is getting a pre-paid card from the Post Office: it works as a bank account, a debt card and you can withdraw from ATMs.

As soon as you open the bank account (we strongly recommend you do so shortly after your arrive in Pavia), please come to the International Office with your Italian IBAN code.

To open a bank account, you may be asked to provide one or more of the following documents:

• Passport or valid ID
• Italian mobile phone number
• Receipt of permit of stay

Before being able to make any transaction, it is necessary to make an initial deposit on your bank account. You must take into account that the procedures to open the bank account and transfer the funds will take some days (probably between 10 and 15). So make sure you have enough money on arrival.

We advise to take with you a minimum of € 800 in cash for the first expenses.

Students have to meet with the Erasmus Faculty Coordinator to check the learning agreement with the up-to-date academic offer and course timetable.
The Coordinators' office hours are available from the Faculty web page. You can take a look at the Course Catalogue for Bachelor and Master Courses 2017/2018 or alternatively search by Teaching Activity.
