Exchange Programs Financed by the Cariplo Foundation



Africa

AFRICAN UNIVERSITIES/HOSPITALS

In order to promote the international cooperation activities, the University of Pavia offers three scholarships per year to study and conduct research in one of the following African Universities/Hospitals: Hôpital Général d’Ayamé (Republic of Côte d'Ivoire), Université Catholique de Bukavu (Democratic Republic of Congo), Hôpital Régional de Ziguinchor (Senegal), St.Mary's Hospital, Lacor (Uganda) and Mtendere Mission Hospital (Zambia). The exchange program is open to all undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students of the University of Pavia. The selected students will stay in Africa for three months. The Cariplo Foundation awards a € 3000 scholarship for each student.

Argentina

UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL DE SAN MARTIN - www.unsam.edu.ar

The University of Pavia and the Universidad Nacional de San Martin signed a student exchange agreement for undergraduate and graduate students in the academic year 2009/2010. The exchange programme is open to students of all the faculties except for the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. The University of Pavia selects two students per year to study in Argentina for a period of six months. The selected students take courses that can be accepted as part of the study plan in Italy and conduct research for the graduate thesis. The Cariplo Foundation awards a € 5000 scholarship for each student.


Australia

The exchange programme between the University of Pavia and the University of Sydney began in the academic year 2007/08. The exchange programme is open to undergraduate and graduate students of all the faculties except for the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. The University of Pavia selects two students per year to study in Australia for a period of six months. The selected students take courses that can be accepted as part of the study plan in Italy and conduct research for the graduate thesis. The Cariplo Foundation awards a € 5000 scholarship for each student.

Brazil

The exchange programme between the University of Pavia and the Universidade Federal da Bahia began in the academic year 1999/2000. The exchange programme is open to undergraduate and graduate students of all the faculties except for the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. The University of Pavia selects two students per year to study in Brazil for a period of 6 months. The selected students take courses that can be accepted as part of the study plan in Italy and conduct research for the graduate thesis. The Cariplo Foundation awards a € 5000 scholarship for each student.

Japan

TOKUSHIMA BUNRI UNIVERSITY - www.bunri-u.ac.jp/en

Within the cooperation agreement between the University of Pavia and the Tokushima Bunri University, the University of Pavia awards five scholarships per year to attend a Japanese language course at Tokushima Bunri University. The two-week language course is intended for outstanding students that are enrolled in one of the following faculties: Economics, Law, Engineering, Arts and Philosophy, Mathematics, Physics and Natural Sciences, Medicine and Surgery, Pharmacy, Political Sciences, Musicology. Selected students will also have the chance to visit Japan and get familiar with the Japanese culture. The selected students will receive scholarship of € 500 from the Cariplo Foundation.

Russia

RUSSIAN STATE UNIVERSITY FOR THE HUMANITIES -  http://rggu.com

There is a student exchange program between the University of Pavia and the Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH). The exchange program is open to students of the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy. Each year two students of the University of Pavia are selected for a two-month study period in Russia. The selected students take courses that can be accepted as part of the study plan in Italy and conduct research for the graduate thesis. Each selected student receive free lodging from the RSUH and a money grant of 700 € from the Cariplo Foundation.
RSUH offers free accommodation and the Cariplo Foundation awards a € 500 scholarship for each student.

Syria

ARCHEOLOGICAL EXPEDITION TO ASHARA – TERQA

The Archeological expedition to Ashara–Terqa coordinated by the University of Lyon 2, the University of Pavia and the EPHE of Paris awards a scholarship for four graduate or PhD students to conduct research for the graduate/PhD thesis in the field of Ancient Middle East History and Archeology. The students/researchers stay in Syria from one to three months. During this period, they participate in the excavation activities and visit museums and libraries related to their field of study. The Cariplo Foundation awards a € 1000/3000 scholarship for each student.

In 2007, the University of Pavia and the Northern Arizona University signed a student exchange program. The exchange program is open for students of all the faculties except for the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. The University of Pavia selects two students per year to study at the Northern Arizona University for six months. The selected students take courses that can be accepted as part of the study plan in Italy and conduct research for the graduate thesis. The Cariplo Foundation awards a € 5000 scholarship for each student.

In 2007, the agreement for the student exchange program between the Ghislieri College (Pavia) and the University of Oregon was extended also to the University of Pavia and to EDiSU. The exchange program is open for students of all the faculties except for the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. The University of Pavia selects two students per year to study at the University of Oregon for six months. The selected students take courses that can be accepted as part of the study plan in Italy and conduct research for the graduate thesis. The Cariplo Foundation awards a € 5000 scholarship for each student.

European Union

COIMBRA GROUP – STUDENT EXCHANGE NETWORK (SEN) - www.coimbra-group.eu

The Coimbra Group (CG) is a network of 38 European universities, some among the oldest and most prestigious in Europe. It was founded in 1985 and formally constituted by charter in 1987. The Coimbra Group aims at encouraging the student mobility within the network. Within the Student Exchange Network (SEN), the University of Pavia offers every year five scholarships to students who want conduct research for their final thesis. The University of Pavia awards a € 500 monthly scholarship for each student. Students of the University of Pavia can apply to one of these Coimbra Universities: Karl-Franzens-Universitaet Graz, Georg-August-Universität Goettingen, Ruprecht-Karls-Universitaet Heidelberg, Friedrich-Schiller-Universitaet Jena, Bayerische Julius-Maximilians-Universitaet Wuerzbur, Universitat de Barcelona, Université de Genève; Universidad de Salamanca, Université de Poitiers, University of Turku, Abo Akademi University, Rjiksuniversiteit Groningen and Universidade de Coimbra.
Germany

In the framework of the direct cooperation agreement between the University of Pavia, the EDiSU and the Universität Konstanz, a total of 20 monthly scholarships of  € 500 per month are available for regular students and PhD students, enrolled at the University of Pavia. The selected students can conduct research in the fields of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Pedagogics, Physical Education, Economics and Statistics, History and Philosophy.

ISEP (International Student Exchange Program) - www.isep.org

The University of Pavia is a member of ISEP since 1992. ISEP is a non-profit organization that has among its members 275 US universities and 39 universities from around the world. It is the widest existing university cooperation network. ISEP exchange programme is reserved to young outstanding university students who attend one of the following faculties: Economics, Law, Engineering, Arts and Philosophy, Mathematics, Physics and Natural Sciences, Medicine and Surgery, Pharmacy, Political Sciences and Musicology. The students of the Faculty of Medicine can also participate, as long as they do not choose clinical courses. Each year three students are selected and they receive a 3000€ scholarship. ISEP provides them with free board and lodging. The selected students stay in the USA for six months.
 
SAN FRANCISCO STATE UNIVERSITY - www.sfsu.edu

The University of Pavia and San Francisco State University (SFSU) have signed an agreement for a student exchange program. The exchange program is open for students of all the faculties except for the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. The University of Pavia selects two students per year to study at the University of SFSU for six months. The selected students take courses that can be accepted as part of the study plan in Italy and conduct research for the graduate thesis. The University of Pavia awards a € 5000 scholarship for each student. The selected students stay in the USA for six months.
