The Italian Ministry of Education announces the procedures for pre-enrolment in degree programmes on a yearly basis and communicates them to the Italian universities.

LOCAL PROCEDURES
Once in Pavia, the Chinese students should go to the International Relations Office of the University of Pavia. The staff of the office will help the students with all necessary procedures. First of all, the students should obtain a permit of stay and health insurance and enrol in the University of Pavia.

PERMIT OF STAY
In order to apply for a permit of stay in Italy, the Chinese students should have the following documents:
- A photocopy of the enrolment document for the university
- A photocopy of all passport pages
- A photocopy of the health insurance policy
- A photocopy of the rental contract
- A photocopy of the letter sent by the University of Pavia to the competent Italian diplomatic authority for obtaining a study visa
- A revenue stamp of €14.62
HEALTH INSURANCE
The Chinese students should get two insurance policies, an accident insurance and a health insurance. The accident insurance is needed for the permit of stay application at the Questura (Local Police Office). The student can get this insurance by paying €98.00 to the INA ASSITALIA ASSICURAZIONI, Roma. The second insurance is needed for receiving sanitary assistance in Italy. This insurance can be obtained by paying €149.57 to the ASL (Local Health Institute).
ENROLMENT AT THE UNIVERSITY
The students should go to the Segreteria Studenti (Registrar’s office) to complete the enrolment procedures.
BUS PASS (UNI-PASS)
The Chinese students can obtain a Uni-pass bus pass for a special price of €10. The pass is valid for one year and can be used for public transportation in Pavia.
